Practical answers about model routing, your tools, local and cloud processing, and getting access.

Routing

What does Switchka do?

Switchka is a drop-in smart router that aims to send each prompt to the cheapest model capable of handling it. It is designed around local-first processing, efficient cloud escalation, and frontier capability when the work needs it, while keeping Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex in your workflow.

How does it choose a model tier?

The approach considers the capability a task requires and the routes available in the environment. The examples on this site explain the idea rather than a published selection algorithm. Confirm actual route behavior and available controls during onboarding.

Does a short prompt always use a local model?

No. A short request can depend on a large codebase or a difficult reasoning problem. Context, task requirements, and model capability matter more than prompt length alone.

Can a frontier response still be wrong?

Yes. More capability does not remove the need for review. Check proposed changes, validate assumptions, and run the appropriate project checks before accepting a result.

Integrations

Which coding tools are part of the intended workflow?

Switchka is designed to plug into Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex. Each tool has a dedicated workflow guide on this site. Confirm support for your version and environment through the early-access process.

Do I have to move my project into a different editor?

The product approach is to keep your existing coding tool and put routing in the model path. Specific connection methods need confirmation. Do not assume a particular extension, proxy endpoint, or setting exists based on the product description.

Where can I find installation commands?

This website provides conceptual guidance and onboarding preparation. It does not publish verified installation commands or executable configuration. Request access to establish the supported setup for your environment.

Local and cloud behavior

Is local-first the same as local-only?

No. Local-first starts with a suitable model on your machine and can escalate when more capability is needed. If work must remain local, establish that requirement before allowing cloud processing.

Do I need particular hardware?

A local route depends on a suitable model and available machine resources. No minimum hardware specification is published here. Explain your environment during onboarding so local availability can be confirmed.

Which cloud providers are supported?

This site does not publish a confirmed provider or model compatibility list. Ask about the supported options for your environment. Do not interpret the efficient-cloud and frontier labels as promises about particular providers.

Can I use sensitive project material?

First understand what context your tool supplies and which routes may process it. Follow your project’s policies and confirm the actual configuration. Local-first wording alone is not a data-handling guarantee.

Savings

Will I save 70% or more?

The supplied claim is 70%+ less token spend, with the qualification: Savings vary by workload. Your task mix, available local capability, prompt size, and frontier use affect the result. It is not a guarantee for an account or an individual request.

How should I measure the difference?

Use representative tasks and a consistent definition of an accepted result. Compare total token spend, including retries and corrections, against your current workflow. Keep quality and review effort in view alongside price.

Does a local request have no cost at all?

A local request can avoid cloud token charges, but the machine still uses resources. Hardware and operational costs may matter to your evaluation. The illustrative dashboard is not a complete accounting of every cost.

Onboarding

What should I include in an early-access request?

Provide your email, preferred coding tool, and a brief description of the work you want to evaluate. Mention restrictions on cloud processing or local environment constraints if relevant. Do not include secrets, private code, or unnecessary personal information.

What is a useful first evaluation?

Choose a small task whose result you can verify independently, then add representative harder work. Establish a baseline before evaluating savings. Confirm connection support and processing boundaries before using real project material.

Accounts and support

Does submitting the signup form give immediate access?

An access request is not immediate account activation. The signup page displays the requested review state. An active account and any onboarding steps require confirmation through the account-access process.

How do I get help accessing an account?

Use the login page’s support link or contact page. The website does not request a password. Include the email associated with your request and a short description of the access issue, without sharing credentials.

Can I ask a product or privacy question?

Yes. Choose the relevant inquiry category on the contact page and explain your request in plain language. Include only the information needed to address it. Privacy and terms pages describe the website’s current scope and direct requests to the same contact page.
